Overview
This guide will walk you through how to add the RightMessage tracking snippet to your Wix website. Installing this snippet is the first step to begin segmenting your audience and personalizing your site.
Before you begin
To add third-party code like the RightMessage snippet, your Wix site must meet two requirements:
You must have a Wix Premium Plan.
You must have a connected custom domain (i.e., you cannot be on a free wix.com URL).
Step 1: Get Your RightMessage Tracking Snippet
First, you need to copy your unique tracking code from your RightMessage account.
Log in to your RightMessage Dashboard.
Click the gear icon (⚙️) in the top navigation bar to go to your account settings.
Select the "Snippet" tab from the settings menu.
Click the button to copy the entire JavaScript snippet to your clipboard.
Step 2: Add the Snippet to Your Wix Site
Next, you will add the snippet to the global header of your Wix website, which will ensure it loads on every page.
Log in to your Wix account and navigate to your site's main Dashboard.
In the left-side navigation menu, click on "Settings".
Scroll down to the "Advanced Settings" section and select "Custom Code".
In the "Head" section, click the "+ Add Custom Code" button. A new window will appear.
In the pop-up window, configure the following:
Paste the code snippet: Paste your RightMessage snippet into the large text box.
Name your code: Give your snippet a descriptive name, like "RightMessage Script".
Add Code to Pages: Select "All pages" from the dropdown and ensure "Load code on each new page" is chosen.
Place Code in: Select "Head".
Click the "Apply" button to save your changes.
Step 3: Verify Your Installation
Finally, you need to confirm that the script is loading correctly on your live website.
Open a new browser tab and visit your website's homepage.
Return to the "Snippet" page in your RightMessage settings.
Look for the "Snippet Health" section. It should update to show that it has detected recent activity from your site.
Troubleshooting
If the snippet activity isn't showing up, try adding ?debug=true
to the end of your website's URL (e.g., https://yourwebsite.com/?debug=true
). This will open the RightMessage debug console and show you what's happening behind the scenes, which can help diagnose any issues.
What's Next?
Now that your tracking script is installed, you're ready to start creating personalized experiences. A great next step is to create your first segmentation Flow to begin learning about your audience.
