RightMessage is one of those tools that, once you get it running, makes you wonder how you ever managed without it. It's a segmentation, survey / quiz funnel, recommendation engine, and website personalization platform that helps you show the right message to the right person at the right time.
Check out our "Segment your email list in just 15 minutes" quick start guide. This is what we recommend most people do first with RightMessage.
Let me walk you through getting it set up on your site.
The Quick Version
Step 1: Grab Your Tracking Script
First things first—you need to get your hands on the tracking script:
Head over to your RightMessage Dashboard
Look for the little cogwheel icon (⚙️) and click it
Find the "Snippet" section
Copy that script. It's unique to you.

Step 2: Add It to Your Website
Now comes the technical bit (but don't worry, it's straightforward). You need to add that script to every page on your website, specifically in the <head>
section—that's the part before the </head>
tag.
If you're not sure how to do this, your web developer will know exactly what to do. Just send them the script and tell them it needs to go in the head of every page.
Step 3: Make Sure It's Working
Here's how to check everything's running smoothly:
Visit your website (just like any normal visitor would)
Pop back into RightMessage → Settings → Snippet
Look for the "Snippet Health" section. It should show when it last saw activity from your site.
If nothing shows up after a minute or so, double-check the script installation
What's Actually Happening Under the Hood
How your JavaScript snippet works
When you install RightMessage, you're essentially adding a smart little helper to your website. Think of it as hiring a really observant concierge who:
Loads quietly in the background: Your visitors won't even notice it's there
Pays attention to who's visiting: Where they came from, what device they're using, what pages they're looking at, and the data you have about them in your email platform
Customizes their experience: Changes headlines, swaps images, or tweaks copy based on who they are
Shows the right questions and offers at the right time: Those surveys, forms, and calls-to-action you set up? They appear exactly when they should
Talks to your other tools: Syncs data up with your email platform or CRM so everything stays connected
What We Track (And What We Don't)
Let's be transparent about data, because nobody likes surprises when it comes to privacy.
RightMessage collects things like:
Which pages people visit and how they move through your site
Their responses to your surveys and forms
When they click on personalized elements
Basic technical stuff (browser type, device, general location)
Here's the important bit:
Everything's stored securely and follows privacy regulations
Visitors get anonymous IDs. We're not stalking anyone.
Your data stays yours. We don't sell it or share it
Only you can see it through your dashboard
For the More Technical Folks
Debug Mode (Your New Best Friend)
Something not working quite right? Debug mode is here to help. Just add ?debug=true
to any page URL on your site, and you'll see:
Whether we've identified the visitor in your email platform or CRM, and what information you have about them
Which RightMessage segments your visitor belongs to
What personalizations are being applied
Why certain widgets are (or aren't) showing up
All the behind-the-scenes tracking details

It's like having X-ray vision for your personalization setup.
Performance (Because Nobody Likes a Slow Site)
"This sounds great, but is it going to slow down my site?" Short answer: nope.
Here's why:
It loads asynchronously: Translation: it doesn't make your visitors wait
Global CDN delivery (Cloudflare): The script loads from servers close to your visitors
It's lightweight: Usually just 50-80KB when compressed. It takes milliseconds to load.
Smart caching: Subsequent visits and page views get an even faster experience
Modular loading: Only loads what you're actually using
That's the overview! Once you get RightMessage running, you'll have a powerful ally in creating those personalized experiences that make visitors feel like your website was built just for them. And isn't that what great marketing is all about?
